From the Caribbean Islands, along the eastern shore, and into the Chesapeake Bay, pirates roamed the seas in search of riches.
The most famous of the sea-faring scoundrels was Blackbeard or his first mate Barnacle Bailey, a notorious gold-seeking buccaneer. In this exciting program, participants will join them on their quest for treasure! However, little does Pirate Blackbeard know, that the real treasures aren't the pearls and jewels he so desires; but rather the invaluable natural resources and animals in these marine habitats! In this program, Blackbeard will encounter lots of animals along his voyage, and he will learn how important they are to us and the marine ecosystems that they call home. He will stumble upon oysters, crabs, terrapins, turtles, and even sharks to name a few, and he will learn all the ins and outs of these important creatures, and why and how they call the Bay their home. Supported by the Joppa Friends of HCPL.
