About the branch

The Abingdon Library is home to HCPL's Innovation Lab and Children's Sensory Room.  It is located in close proximity to the I-95 corridor and offers a meeting room as well as two smaller conference rooms.

A reading and discussion series for veterans of all services, all eras. Five books are discussed over the course of five sessions, one each month. Read the book, come for the discussion - and dinner! Moderator Dr. Karen Arnold will take you and your compatriots through books that explore a variety of topics. Learn about the experiences of other military personnel and share your own with those most likely to understand. Registration is required and attendees should plan to attend all sessions. START (Serving, Thriving, and Reading Together) is a unique humanities-based and family-focused program building community among military and civilian families. Four weekly storytelling, reading, and discussion sessions featuring award-winning children’s books are led by professional storytellers and storylovers. Families with children ages 6 to 13 will enjoy discussing children’s stories about such ideas as family, courage, and community.
