Join Dr. Amy Rosenkrans for a nostalgic look at one of Havre de Grace’s beloved traditions—the young people who delivered newspapers throughout the city for McLhinney’s News Depot. For nearly 75 years, Walter “Mac” McLhinney and later his son Charlie provided dozens of boys and (some) girls with their first jobs, valuable life lessons, and a sense of belonging. Through photographs, stories, and memories, discover the history of the news depot, the legendary “News Boys Blow Out” banquets, and Mac’s commitment to treating all of his employees with fairness and respect. This is the story of paper routes, community, and the remarkable legacy of “Mr. Mac.” Supported by the Havre de Grace Friends of HCPL
